Coming 2027

Sarpsborg, summer 1995

95 Octan

Bolt together an old Bauta from loose parts, survive a summer alone in the countryside outside Sarpsborg, and get the car through inspection before you wreck it in a folkrace.

Realistic first-person car-building and survival game In development. Coming 2027.

Your parents are on holiday. The car is in pieces.

You are 18, your parents are abroad for the whole summer, and you are home alone on the smallholding in Tune with 500 kroner in your pocket. In the garage sits your father’s old Bauta 190 GL, which he took apart and never managed to put back together.

Your 500 kroner will not last long, so you will have to take on odd jobs to pay for parts, petrol and food: chopping firewood, delivering newspapers, working shifts at the factory. And whatever you do, do not get caught by the police. They are watching you all the time.

The game starts on 20 June. On 15 August your parents come home, and you will hear what they think of the house. After that, you can keep driving with no deadline.

Cumbersome by design

This is a realistic car-building game, not an arcade racer. Every part is an object you lift with your hands, carry to where it belongs and bolt on with the right tool, in the right order. You have to work a lot out for yourself. But it feels fantastic when the car you built bolt by bolt finally starts.

Sarpsborg at full scale

The map is being built at full scale, roughly 8.5 × 8.5 kilometres, from Tune and Lake Tunevannet to Hafslund and the River Glomma. The terrain is real, and the roads and houses will sit where they did in 1995.

The sky keeps to the same calendar. The sun and moon are where they were, and the weather plays back the measurements taken at Rygge in the summer of 1995. Rain soaks the ground and leaves puddles in the wheel ruts.
